The Gazzbass Scarab Active

The “Gazzbass Scarab Active A” is not just another bass. It will take you back in time…

“They survive in large numbers and, through their inscriptions and typology, they are an important source of information for archaeologists and historians of the ancient world.
They also represent a significant body of ancient art.”

And, art it is. The “Gazzbass Scarab Active A” bass guitar can take you to those forgotten kingdoms.

With its characteristic growl, it can creep up on you. And when its solo time, nothing will step in its path.

“You stop, breathless. In an instant, the unearthly silence is broken.
A voice, incorporeal and as yet faceless, is whispering in your ear. You can also feel the breath from the disembodied entity on the back of your neck.
A rich, rainbow-like cascade churns from your hand:

“You cannot see me… but I am right beside you…”

Such is the effect of the “Gazzbass Scarab”. A metal-heads dream, a funk-masters bastion, a bass for all basses.

It is in these days that I am proud to bring you the most versatile of bass guitars… the “Gazzbass Scarab“, and its assorted brethren.

Here we have a a bass that is made of Sapele, a wood from the depths of Africa. Dark, but bright at the same time.

The “Scarab” can offer the pro-bassist the best of every genre. When you play it, people listen.

I can make the Scarab with Musicman or traditional Soapbar… no probs.
Do you want LED fretboard lights?… OK.
Hardware? Black, Silver or Gold?… You choose.

The specially tensioned, ABS cusioned neck will give either the warmest or brightest of sounds. It is at your command.

The Scarab’s body is finished with Tung Oil.

Tung Oil is a natural or “green” product. Also, after it cures (5 to 30 days, weather/temperature related), the result is a very hard and easily repaired finish.
The oil is diluted with hydrocarbon thinner so that the viscosity is very low and enables the oil to penetrate the finest grain woods.
Thus, the Oak grain stands (and dips) proud, revealing an inner organic quality that resonates with the player.

The pickups are double coil noise cancelled Musicman designed, with an option for ceramic SoapBar.
The Gazzbass Scarab electronics are copper shielded and have reverse end back-of-the-bass access to maintenence.
The electronics are active, requiring a 9-volt PP3 type battery. The battery compartment is conveniently located at the back of the bass, behind the bridge.

Having built this instrument from scratch, I am reminded of the enjoyment of a dream come to fruition.
The “Scarab” will always be my first!
